The next generation Chevrolet Volt will debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Global Chevrolet Chief Marketing Officer Tim Mahoney said today. The 2016 Volt will build on the award-winning original’s strong foundation of technology innovation. Volt sales were up 13 percent in July and more than 65,000 have been sold since it was introduced – making it the best-selling plug-in passenger car in the U.S. market. “Volt is the perfect example of the ingenuity that drives everything we do at Chevrolet,” Mahoney said at the Center for Automotive Research Management Briefings. “Volt fully delivers on the promises of Find New Roads and will continue to provide consumers with the transportation solutions they need and deserve in the future.”

Out of 12 cars, the Forward Collision Alert system integrated in the 2014 Chevrolet Volt earned it the Institute for Highway Safety’s 2014 Top Safety Pick award. Added to that, the Chevrolet Volt also earned a decent score in a tough small overlap front crash test, conducted by the IIHS. The amazing test results put this car at a better stance compared to its competitors, both in small and electric power train car segments. The IIHS senior vice president for vehicle research, Joe Nolan explained that the outstanding performance of the Chevrolet Volt puts it at the top among the most safest small cars. He also praised GM for coming up with such a strong small car, which was designed even before the crash tests were introduced. The Volt managed to secure the highest, ‘good’ rating in four out of the six IIHS tests. In the remaining two Structure category and the Restraints and Kinematics tests, the car earned a decent ‘acceptable’ rating. The vice president of GM Global Vehicle Safety explained how GM aims to keep up with the solid safety standards; he added that achieving the highest safety ratings in the IIHS tests is also highly valued by the customers. The overlap front crash test was introduced in 2012 and it simulates a collision with an object, like a tree, on the front corners of the vehicle at 40mph. This way, the front bumpers are avoided so that the energy from the impact is equally distributed throughout the car. According to the IIHS, the overlap front crash test is still considered one of the most challenging tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the IIHS.

The Text Message Alerts technology pairs your phone or another Bluetooth device that offers text messaging. Now you can initiate a command through the message icon, located on the display screen. What functions do you get to enjoy? If your phone pairs up properly, you can do any of the following tasks.
And are they beneficial? The Text Message Alert feature provides you with a number of advantages. For starters, it reduces distractions by allowing you to keep your hands on the wheel and eyes ahead. So even when driving with full concentration, you will still be able to access all of your important messages. Vehicles that offer the Text Message Alert feature This feature is available for all models that incorporate the MyLink™, IntelliLink or Cadillac CUE3 technology, with the exception of Spark, Spark EV, Sonic and Trax. Models such as Sierra 2500HD and 3500H, Escalade/ESVD, Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado Heavy Duty, Yukon and Yukon XL have the Text Message Alerts feature. Please note that this feature is offered only with 2015 models but there are exceptions once again. Certain 14MY vehicles also have this feature such as the Cruze, Cruze Diesel, Chevrolet Camaro, Traverse, Volt, Equinox, Malibu and SS. The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette will boast 650hp, making it the most powerful car among the General Motor catalogue. With a supercharged 6.2 liter V8 that is capable of cranking out 650horsepower, the 2015 Corvette Zo6 LT4 will join a handful of exclusive cars that boast above 600hp in the US. Not only that, it will also be able to produce the same amount of torque at 650 pounds per feet, which is typically unheard of. “A car may have above 500 or even 600 horsepower, but what is the point of all that power when it isn’t delivered properly?” said Steve Kruger, sales manager at Courtesy Chevrolet, one of the leading Chevrolet dealerships in San Diego. “Torque is the ability of the engine to deliver the magnanimous power it produces, allowing it to respond at a faster pace. With insufficient torque, the car will simply start spinning out of control!” Compared to its nearest competition from Ferrari, the F12 Berlinetta, the Corvette boasts 88% of its horsepower while boasting 28% more torque. The Corvette Zo6 also outshines another Italian rival, the Porsche 911 Turbo S, by more than 85hp, while costing a fraction as much. It is the first time that Chevrolet has offered an automatic transmission on Zo6 models, albeit a six speed one. The LT4 is also able to reach a maximum RPM limit of up to 20,000, which is accomplished by minimizing the rotors to a lower diameter. This makes the Corvette Zo6 rowdier than its ZR1 counterpart, while allowing it to produce huge amounts of power in the starting band. “Vettes are as American as they come, embodying the spirit of a classic American muscle in a modern package.” The Corvette has had a long and illustrious history in North America, especially in San Diego, where there are dedicated Corvette exclusive clubs and events taking place each year. One of the most widely attended events is the ‘Vettes for Vets’, which takes place during the fall season in the North side to honor war veterans. The event features Corvettes ranging from the old 50’s models to the newer ones. Other than that, Chevrolet’s parent company General Motors has also honored war veterans by offering them huge discounts ranging in 4 digit figures on purchase of a Chevrolet model, including the Corvette. The Zo6 LT4 will be available for San Diego residents by the end of 2014 at Courtesy Chevrolet.
